A list of great words:

  • tremendous – makes every day a little more festive
  • awkward – sounds like what it means, it’s even awkward to say, and it just fits so perfectly it makes me happy
  • morbid – a full-bodied and heavy word that makes an impression, a good one for fans of controversy
  • delirious – again, sounds like what it means and rolls around and lilts about on your tongue and in your mind

I count a day successful if I manage to slip these into conversation without sounding tremendously delirious. The trick is to connect your topics sensibly, not awkwardly jump from flower arrangements to the dangers of being morbidly obese.

That would be my train of thought while sipping hot apple cider in my favourite café on another rainy October day.
